Injuries to pitchers from line drives are a rare but serious risk in baseball. At least one serious injury or death occurs every year as a result, which does not tally youth league injuries. One pitcher worked with rib protector company EvoShield to fashion a makeshift protection after sustaining a serious injury. EvoShield is currently performing market evaluation and looking into making a product for head protection for pitchers to reduce the occurrence of traumatic brain injury.
