New Technology for Autism Detection

Diagnosing autism at an early age is key to managing and treating the disease.  One such indicator is the unique development of speech in the development of autistic children; however there has not a way to objectively measure speech development, until now.  Researchers at the University of Kansas have developed the 'Language Environment Analysis' system to characterize infant and child vocalizations to 86% accuracy.  The system is able to distinguish between slow speech development and autism where there could be a perceived overlap.  Check out the links below for more information.
